art funding
Hmmm... I honest and truly thought the art funding idea would garner more attention. This is just me sharing some thoughts. It seemed to me like it would be a good value and good cause to crowd fund for some art. I mean, the artist I found was going to give me a massive deal from his normal rates, about half price. And I thought it would add a lot to this project having some original art, especially for the cover. And I thought setting the price at $4 would be a good price point that would gather some support. But it has not worked out that way so far...
So, I'm left wondering all the questions...
Is it because people don't trust that I am honest about this project? Is it because the price is too high? Or maybe not viewed as something worth putting even a minimal investment of $4 into? Or, is it because I don't have enough ways to put the campaign in front of enough eyeballs? I can only guess.
I am thinking that the people of the ttrpg community have crowd funding fatigue, and being pretty much unknown, my project is likely just not on anybody's list. And I understand that. In the end, it looks (at least at this point) like I won't be able to hire for the art and this project can just be as-is... I still think my hours put into it are worthwhile and that it can still bring some players and GMs some joy. And I'm cool with that.
I've learned so much through this latest project. Being posted on Rascal News was very cool and the correspondence helping me to craft a press release has been invaluable.
So, no matter how this funding thing goes in the end... I'll keep creating and posting, and all that. And, who knows, we've got a couple weeks left, maybe it will get there! Check it out and chip in if you can!!
